No summer outfit, or any outfit really, is complete without a great pair of sunglasses. They can take any look from simple to chic - there's a reason Anna Wintour never takes hers off - hide tired eyes (perfect for party season) and, most importantly, protect the delicate skin around the eyes from the summer sun.

Like all things, there are trends that determine the frame shape of the moment. We've seen a return to oversized, 70s-style frames courtesy of the boho renaissance but tiny pairs also seem to be going nowhere. Trends aside, the style that suits you best will depend on your face shape and the tint and colours that you like best.

To help guide your new season sunglasses investment, we've pulled together an edit of new season styles from our favourite retailers that will have you looking effortlessly chic all year long.
